Daily Mindfulness Halloween Oracle
(61 days) Graveyard This card is a reminder that we don't need to fear things unnecessarily. We often get stuck on something and our anxiety gets high and we start stressing and making things snowball into bigger things until it gets to be a very large problem. We need to stop, take a moment, and make these issues "right sized," and not blow them up to gigantic proportions. We also need to remember that we know what to do and how and when to do it. Trust yourself!

Death XIII A time of releasing things that no longer serve us. Of letting go and moving forward on our path. It will probably hurt or at the least be uncomfortable, but it is necessary and part of you knows that too. Accepting this and standing strong even if it hurts will make the transition smoother and not having to cling to the things you were struggling with will make life a lot easier. For some reason, this particular version of Death reminds me of 1Q84 by Murakami. Watching the Little People ready an Air Chrysalis - something new inside of something old. We are reborn many many times in our current lifetime as we find something new inside, ready to fly! Daily Mindfulness Thoth Deck
Ace of Wands From the Book of Thoth: This card represents the essence of the element of Fire in its inception. It is a solar-phallic outburst of flame from which spring lightnings in every direction. In other words this is a badass card full of fiery energy that has the potential to be anything you dream up. This Ace represents Kether on the Tree of Life and sits in the highest world, Atziluth and holds all things in it. All potentials. Force - strength, energy, vigour, and it governs, according to its nature, various works and questions. Implies natural as opposed to invoked force. This is a raw, natural energy that heal, help us to our goals and give us a creative burst when we need it. But you need to channel it and balance it so it doesn't run away recklessly. Grab this abundant energy and GO! Daily Mindfulness Thoth Deck
Knight of Cups Swiftness and violence ill suit a character naturally placid; it is rare indeed to meet a person who has succeeded in harmonizing these conflicting elements (BOT) This Knight sweeps off the card in an elegant swish. Fire of Water can be volatile if one is not careful but used correctly can be very nourishing. As Crowley says, "he is quick to respond to attraction and easily becomes enthusiastic under such stimulus but he is not very enduring. His name is writ in water." If we can keep these elements balanced we have grace and enthusiasm, creativity and compassion. But this Knight doesn't have a lot of depth to him so he can easily fall into unsteady vanity and selfishness. At this Knights best though, he is full of tenderness and support, good humor and keen insight. I think this card is a good reminder to stay balanced and letting the energies around us flow openly and naturally and not being blocked off or stagnate. Daily Mindfulness Thoth Deck
The Hermit This card holds so much alchemical and symbolic goodness that it needs a book on its own but I will try to sum up - The point of all this alchemy is The Great Work and the Climax of the Descent into Matter. There are 3 key players that create this mode of fulfillment for The Great Work and they are Earth, Mercury and the Sun. These players have their first meeting here in the Hermit. He represents the sign of Virgo, mutable sign of Earth. Virgo is ruled by Mercury and Mercury is exalted in Virgo. The Hermit himself carries the lamp of the Sun - and uses it to give his light to the world. Wander alone; bearing the Light and thy Staff! And be the Light so bright that no man seeth thee! Be not moved by aught without or within; keep Silence in all ways (BOT) Illumination from within. This is our time to go within ourselves and learn the inner mysteries. There is a point where we can no longer learn from outside influences and we instead need to follow our own inner paths. This is where we meditate and dream and find our centers. This is where we talk with our higher selves and find our place in the Universe. Daily Mindfulness Thoth Deck
Princess of Cups What started with the Ace of Cups is now materialized in the Princess. She is all sweetness, gentleness and kindness. Dreamy and imaginative and full of a fluid grace. She is dancing with her turtle in a smooth flowing ocean and looks quite happy to be there. Earth of Water - this Princess takes your dreams and makes them into reality. This is a time to channel her serenity and balanced emotions as well as her creativity and intuition. Combining all of these attributes will help you turn your ideas and wishes into a well grounded reality. Daily Mindfulness Thoth Deck
Ten of Swords Well, this is just one of those stabby cards that really has no positive spin. Sol is in Mercury-ruled Gemini here and that identifies with the mind/intellect - and in this card, is in the process of being destroyed. As Crowley puts it, "It is the ruin of the Intellect and even of all mental and moral qualities." Yeah, not cheery! I like how the general meaning for this one is, "almost a worse symbol than the Nine of Swords. Warring forces, complete disruption and failure. Ruin of plans and projects." LOL Almost worse... But remember, the 10's are the end of a cycle and they regenerate back into the Aces, which is a hopeful thing to keep in mind! Here's the thing. The ruin of the mind isn't always a bad thing. We tend to think ourselves into a negative tail spin when life gets chaotic and it's hard to get out of that mindset. The things we think NOW, affect what happens in the future and if we are all stabby cranky pants, then that is what follows us forward. We create our futures and we need to get out of the habit of negative thinking even if life is going really pear shaped. Create the world you want and the best way to do that is by staying in a positive mindset with different perspectives and views. It isn't always easy, finding a way to spin things in a better light, but with practice, it becomes easier. Daily Mindfulness Thoth Deck
Ace of Swords The Ace of Swords is the primordial Energy of Air - the root of the air element and represents the Ruach, which is the intellect part of the soul. Inscribed on the blade in Greek is the word Thelema, Will and will is what is needed to invoke the clarity and discipline to wield this sword and the mind! The mind doesn't like to obey or identify with any higher levels of consciousness because it believes it is the highest and will give you all sorts of anxiety and mischief to keep you from getting past the mind. Swords can be stubbornly stabby but in the right hands, with the right focus, you can use that sword to cut through all that confusion. Looking at the picture, there is no better sword to wield that this one, the sword of the Magus, crowned with the 22 rayed diadem of pure light. (BOT) This is a time to cut away the chaos and confusion with this powerful air energy. Like Alexander cutting through the Gordian Knot, use this to get to the heart of the matter and see with new perspectives and crystal clear clarity. Daily Mindfulness Thoth Deck
Two of Swords This is a card of balanced thought, keeping a steady equilibrium and weighing things with fairness. But swords are sharp and pointy and like to do damage if not wielded correctly. Our minds are in constant motion and according to some Eastern type mystics, the mind needs to be overcome! However, the mind doesn't want that and will cause all sorts of mischief to keep itself in control. As we can see from just looking at this card, there is some chaotic bits of staticky energy happening in the background, but the swords rest balanced on top of it all. This tells us to get a new perspective when things go pear shaped. Try to see it from above to find a solution that lets us stay in control with gentle equilibrium. Daily Mindfulness - Thoth Deck
The Devil I think this, along with the Wild Unknown's hot foot devil, is my favorite rendition of this card. I mean, look at this devil - he is one happy goat! He has also been a very misunderstood scapegoat because of the name and the perceived evils that go along with it. Crowley says that this card represents creative energy in its most material form - the fiery, material energy of creation. This is the masculine energy at its most masculine and as Lady Harris has illustrated it, it is pretty obvious in its masculinity. To me, this is a card full of fertility and creative energy. This is not a Devil to be feared - it is life and love and unity all waiting to happen. From the Book of Thoth: The formula of this card is then the complete appreciation of all existing things... all things equally exalt him. He represents the finding of ecstasy in every phenomenon...he transcends all limitations. Blind impulses, ambition, temptation, obsession - the animal instincts we all have and deal with - but there is no reason to shove them aside. We are both light and dark and we need to find the balance between them, not hide the less shadow sides because we are taught they are wrong. |
