Look at the massive fiery energy waiting for us here. I asked the deck how could I best organize all my thoughts and ideas for my new venture and it gave me this card. So perfect! Because this is a start to a new cycle - and when the inner want aligns with this power and harmony, doors that were closed are now opening - this is a time to trust yourself and the universe and know something big is happening. .. . Ever try to cross a rickety bridge that was built when dragons ruled the earth while also trying to do 10 other things at the same time? That never turns out well and that is what this card is showing us. Time to slow down and wait for things to become clearer. Eight of Swords Crowley says, "the Will is constantly thwarted by accidental interference." This card enters Hod, the sphere of Mercury, and Hod being low and out of balance on the Tree of Life leaves this card out of skew. The Swords are about airy freedom of the mind, but Hod is more about structure, so we get blocked there too. .. . Too much force applied to small things; too much attention to detail at the expense of the principal and more important points. We are nitpicking and over analysing everything here, looking for reasons to be contrary. Overall, our minds are restless and we can't make any sense of things. .. . When this happens we just need to stop and take a look at what is happening, instead of rushing about with no direction. Banging your head on the wall isn't going to help here. This card was spot on after I asked for help in seeing a dream more clearly - It was the third source that stated, "purpose in life," and linked several dreams together for a powerful insight. Swords are never easy cards to work with but they are necessary for our growth. Three of Swords Lady Harris wrote to Crowley about this card: "Please don't frighten me with the Sword suit. The three was a fair horror and great suffering." And we do suffer when we are stuck in a negative feedback loop. When we keep going over and over the same things they become inflated and the only way to get out of this loop is to do things step by step. First step is to stop looking at the sorrows of the past because we cannot do anything about them - instead see things as a whole. .. . Jung called this process individuation - where we open up to our Higher Selves - this can be hard and painful because we are growing and stretching our form as we know it now. But this needs to happen for our development. .. . This card helps us face the illusions that we surround ourselves with because they can be better than facing reality. But they are false and understanding that will help us understand what is happening and help us to make better decisions. We need to engage with this hurt not hide from it. This is a time of perfect balance, energy and harmony. This is where you step into your power and own it. Two of Wands This card is explosive in energy - The Reds of Aries with Mars loving it there. If we are willing to change, to have an open mind to what comes to us, we can create some amazing things. As the Wheel turns will we be ready for these opportunities? The Demiurge brings order to so-called creation. The Demiurge is the highest God below the Abyss - and thinks itself the creator or supreme deity because it is unaware of its own creation. Above the Abyss everything is reconciled - there is no need for the concepts of change or opposites or luck. It is when we are below the Abyss that those concepts appear. .. . Fortune, is the wheel that keeps everything in perpetual motion. This card showed up in a Big Dream for me awhile ago and I am still delving into its message. When the Moon shows up for you, it's a time of descent into our deepest selves and our unconscious depths. The Moon Look at the colors on the card - the moonlight gives everything a twilight zone vibe. That light illuminates EVERYTHING - including the things we might be trying to hide from ourselves. But look closer - it is lighting up a path for us to walk, it may not be an easy path but it is there for us! .. . The Sun Gods stand at the gate showing us the way forward and Anubis (the jackals) remind us that to go through that gate, we need to let go of old ways in order to experience anything new. .. . Time to channel our inner Great Goddess - this is a strong feminine energy - strong enough to bring new life into anything. Her planet is Venus and she is the second alchemical trump card, salt. Crowley describes her as the inactive principal of Nature - Salt is matter which must be energized by Sulfur to maintain the equilibrium of the Universe. (sulfur is the Emperor/Aries, ruled by Mars and was the lover of Venus!) .. . Her arms form a glyph of Salt and it looks as if she is already holding her child. The shield represents the alchemical white tincture whose nature is the Moon and silver. (The Emperor has the red tincture) .. . The Empress holds a strong feminine power - the power to create and to love. This is a gentle and compassionate power but incredibly strong and enduring. For some reason it reminds of that saying that Moms are supposed to say to naughty kids, "I brought you into this world and I can take you out." And while that is a joke, it is that kind of power she wields.
