So this weird thing happened the other day. Well actually it's been happening I just didn't know what it was. It felt sort of like apathy but wasn't. I realized it's what happens when I am stuck in one spot and not really learning or growing. And it tends to drive me nuts.  

Then I was lurking about on instagram and reading about a Tower card and it was from the Thoth deck.  I have had this deck for a few years, looked at it when I bought it and then promptly put it away and decided I didn't like it at all thankyouverymuch.  

But I liked the Thoth Tower card I had looked at so I dragged my deck out and something interesting happened.  I fell in love with it. HARD.  This deck pulls zero punches. It is a very in your face lets get some work done deck.   I am going to be saying this all wrong or using the wrong words but it feels like the RWS is a more soft or passive deck whereas so far, the Thoth is a very active and stronger? emotional? tough love? deck...

I am just really starting to work with it. So I am still in the learning phase and everything is sort of - not coalesced yet. But it fulfilled that weird need to learn and grow into something that I had been feeling.   The card set I bought it very wee. You can see from the photo, Pockethippo for scale. And the LWB is very interesting but I am hoping to at some point buy the regular sized deck and a book to go with. I have many many tarot books but none of them really touch on the Thoth so I feel like I am treading in deep water... which is making me quite happy - go figure LOL

I did a Getting to Know the Deck spread and here are my results:

The Magician
The Magician, Number 1 - 1 is the ego, the individual - all about you and your willpower and ideas and actions. Right now you have all of the elements surrounding you and a lot of awesome energy to pull from. This is also a time of connecting to your higher self - learning what your true purpose in life is. Dig deep, use this energy to find the path you are meant to walk. 

Luck/Star Anise
I love how the fairy is flying out of the cocktail glass - so much exuberant energy which goes so well with our Magician up there. Good luck is coming your way - this could be in any form, but it will be in the form you need most so be prepared!  I like how the card notes that this Priestess is associated with air and the fleeting nature of luck and that luck can be unpredictable. 

So today channel all of that creative energy. You have everything you need to move forward and create your path, to find your purpose. Open yourself up and catch that luck that is coming your way - now is the time to work some magic!

Queen of Coins
This is a loving and affectionate Queen. Very intelligent and helpful this Queen loves life's pleasures and is a hands on type of energy. This is the time of fertile ideas and an abundance of creative energy.  Also a note: this is a loving Queen as was Lady Olenna a loving matriarch, but do not mess with her, she can also be quite tricky and  vengeful.  (ask Joffrey)

Innocence/Daisy
Daisy's are my favorite flower - gerbera to be exact. They just look so happy and they do bring a very playful energy wherever they are.  This card is a reminder to us that we are all divine beings and we are currently having a physical experience here on Earth. Humans make mistakes and we are never going to be perfect - so feeling guilty about that or denying ourselves the happiness and sweetness that is around us is just a bad idea. 

So today be loving and kind. Let your creative abundance flow and know that if you make a mistake, it is totally OK - don't get mired in the negatives, learn from those experiences and then go forward with that knowledge! Life is a learning experience so embrace it!

Knight of Cups
Ah the lovely Ser Loras - a perfect Knight of Cups - romantic and full of promise and ideals. He is enchanting and dreamy - Sansa totally fell for him... This could show a new love interest coming your way - but be careful, this knight loves to be a lover and you need to be sure you are not just projecting the qualities you want onto him - because he may not actually have them.  Assess things carefully before you decide to commit to them - that goes for any situation, not just in the romance department.

Wishes/Apple Blossom
This is a wish upon a star card - and when it shows itself it is a positive sign that right now a heartfelt wish will most likely come true.   Apples are the magical fruit, or magickal, if your prefer.  And the latin on the card means, "wish potion."   If you have a good heart and are determined to succeed, wishes can come true. 

So today, let your magical and dreamy self have some fun.  If you want something or have been wishing for something more, and you have been working hard and are determined, then set your intentions, look at everything carefully to be sure it is exactly what you need, and send those wishes out to the Universe.

King of Coins
This one shows up a lot for me, which I think is a good sign.  Master of Coin, this card concerns money and possessions. He is a reliable person, generous with his time and money to give comfort and protection.  He bring security and loyalty and is very helpful in problem solving. All in all a good person to have around.

Abundance/Cinnamon
Another perfect fit - look at all the stuff Abundance is surrounded by. Gold coins, gem colored pillars - just a lot of happy there.  This card asks us to think about how we can be creative and growing our own abundance.  There are many ways to bring in money, a job, yes, but also, crafts, hobbies, even just plain saving instead of spending.  This card asks us to define what abundance means to us and then how can we create more of it in our lives?

So today is about the money or stuff or all the things.  How can we create abundance in our lives? Do we want to surround ourselves with more money or maybe just have a lot of extra TIME to enjoy what we have created and earned... look around and see how you can attract more abundance in your life.

The Lovers
Awwww you know nothing Jon Snow ;)  I love these Lovers and this card arrives to remind us about committing to a new relationship or venture with an open and trusting heart. Also, it can mean looking closely at something and if it is no longer working for you, walking away from it. This is about looking at long term goals rather than short gains - about growing forward.

Beauty/Lotus
This card is a very gentle reminder that while wanting to look your best is a good thing, getting a bit to prideful is not.  When we look good we feel good YES! But to judge solely by looks is never a good idea. Inner qualities are what really count here - kindness, compassion, honor - these are the things that will follow us our entire lives - so while looking good on the outside try to also look good on the inside.

So today is a good day for love and good things! New relationships or adventures to plan - keep an open heart and look closely at these opportunities - are they going to help you grow in the long term? Are they coming from a place of kindness and honor and loving compassion?  Love inside and out!

While she would rather live in peace... she has DRAGONS.

Patience/Willow
This card shows up when we need to slow down and wait a bit. In the immortal words of Inigo Montoya, "I hate wait," and I think a lot of us do. But slowing down and being patient lets us look at the big picture and to understand things better.  The willow symbolizes grace and guidance and with both of those attributes we can see things from a different perspective and understand why we might have to wait for ALL THE THINGS to happen.

So today is full of creative energy and your ideas and plans will flourish. Keep your heart open with love and compassion and don't be afraid to stop for a moment to regroup and gain new perspectives on the situations around you. I really love this card - look at how well balanced it is - a great reminder that we need to stay balanced as well. We need to stick to our morals and principals here - you know if you are acting with the best intentions for all and when you are not.  It can be realllllly hard to do the right thing but when you do, it is the most rewarding. (And when you don't you totally feel how heavy that is.)
This is a time to do what YOU feel is right, no matter what others think or feel. Be honest and stick to your values. 

So today channel all that lovely creative energy and get started on that thing you have been planning and not doing cause sometimes planning is easier and doing is scary. DO IT. Here we see the potential for success. You have put in the effort to make your "garden," grow and now you need to sit back a bit and let it happen. Even if things are moving in a way you didn't plan for, don't think too much about it. Plans don't always work the way we think they should and right now is a time to let them be to grow the way they need to. Just keep up a consistent effort and you will get things done successfully!

Wisdom/Ivy Berry
I love that the butterfly on this card looks like it would be at home in the garden on the seven of coins card. Wisdom shows up when we need to step back from a situation and use our objective thinking to stay balanced.  This card is about connections with others even when they are different from us and what we believe.  Think of the Ivy plant, which gets all up in everything no matter what kind of conditions in grows in. Our connection to others is like that as well, so we need to learn the wisdom to be resilient and to make lasting connections.

So today is about steady consistent work. Set a course, trust that you are making the right decisions and make the effort to see it through. If things start to look tangled and confusing, step back to look at what is happening objectively, use your wisdom to see clearly and your resilience to find the right path forward.
