Letters From the Thoth Tarot
Art This card reminds me of the book, The Great and Secret Show by Clive Barker. In it, the antagonist is trying to learn and master "The Art," for his Great Work. Sound familiar? Crowley refers to The Great Work as a conscious process of spiritual growth. Symbolically, this card represents the consummation of the royal marriage in KeyVI - (Lovers). There is a lot of alchemical goodness going on here and Crowley says, "but this is only a crude symbol of the spiritual idea, which is the satisfaction of the desire of the incomplete element of one kind to satisfy its formula by assimilation of its equal and opposite." The title of the card, "Daughter of Reconcilers, the Bringer forth of Life," makes a lot of sense in that regard. We are the artist and this card is full of creation and transformation - reconciliation and the unity of opposites. How can you create your own great work/spiritual growth? From inventiveness and creativity and our own unique powers of transformation. This creative power takes us to our roots and connects us to the Absolute and to unite desire and reality.
