Daily Mindfulness - Marseille Tarot
I love this deck but I am terrible at reading with it LOL La Papesse/High Priestess Per Jodorowsky, this first woman of the Majors appears to us as a cloistered woman sitting next to an egg. (It took me awhile to even realize there was an egg there LOL) The egg is a symbol of gestation and incubating. She is often seen as a sorceress or initiator. Her book symbolizes study and knowledge - it is flesh colored, which tells us she is studying the laws of human incarnation. It has 17 lines on it, which links it to The Star and her kinship to it. There is a section of Jodorowsky's book where he has the card speak and this is what she says, " I have formed an alliance with this mystery I call God. When I contemplate my own flesh, wood, stone, I detect within them the energy of the Creator. I vibrate in tune with the Universe - the energy of all creation comes to me. I therefore invite you to join with me what is divine within you. I inhabit my body like a sacred place; I can give myself the position I deserve at any time. No one distracts me or makes me deviate from what I want. I give myself to God who is the only secret" The Marseille is a lot more connected to the religious aspects than some of the decks I use. But one can substitute *the god of your understanding* in place of God, but it speaks to the same thing: Faith, knowledge, solitude - as well as incubating those things until you are ready to burst forth in understanding.
