Four of Cups
While we have balance and stability in the four we also find ourselves separating from the source of water of life - note that the lower lotuses no longer flow water back into the sea. It's as if we are too stable - which can restrict us from developing further.
This card has a heavy feel to it after the lightness of the three. The sky is darker and the sea is restless while the cups are just overflowing and slowly sinking lower. Also, the wilted lotus at the top, which is pouring out the water just looks sad and about to run out of its supply.
The four is like the Demiurge, its self absorbed and arrogant. It thinks it's Luxury is the Cup of all Cups and it isn't. A stationary period in happiness, which may or may not continue. You have reached a plateau here, what you really wanted you gained and now everything is sort of comfortable? Boring? Too much? Not enough? What we need most right now is to balance being open with our emotions and letting them flow - yes there is always a risk in letting your emotions out - but staying shut off can lead to stagnation.
