Today is Situation/Challenge Situation: Queen of Pentacles - The lady of abundance and sharing. She is generous and loves to share her bounty with others. She can manifest what she needs and is unselfish in nature. She values her gifts and shares them with others with love. Dryad - are nymphs or tree spirits. They exist to watch over the tree they are born with and in rare cases, groves and other creatures. They are not something to be taken lightly but are deserving of the respect granted to any divine being. They bring a sense of life and natural being to the places their trees inhabit and are mysterious and unique. One of my favorite stories is about Eurydice, , an oak Dryad who fell in love with Orpheus. One day a snake bit her and she died. Orpheus was heartbroken and convinced Hades to let her go. Hades agreed but said if Orpheus looked back even once to see if she was following, she would never be released from the Underworld. Just as Orpheus was stepping out of the Underworld he felt a moment of doubt and looked back. Eurydice was not quite at the threshold and was swept back in. *cry* Challenge: Four of Swords - A reminder to get some rest and contemplation. Letting your racing thoughts quiet themselves. Now is the time for thinking, not acting. Slow down and be still. Find serenity and seek stillness - the perfect place to create dreams. Vampire - creatures of the night, the undead. Spend the night hours looking for food and fun. But need to be back in bed before the sun comes up. In relation to the 4 of swords, I think of Lestat de Lioncourt - who tended to think about things philosophically. I guess if a vampire needed to pass some time waiting for the sun to set, he could ponder the deeper meanings of life... or death? So today we need to fight the urge to withdraw and be more open and sharing with others. This can be hard if we naturally tend to introversion (ME) but you have great gifts and now is the time to get them into the open!

Rabbit is about fear. When Rabbit shows up, it's a reminder to stop talking about all the bad things that can happen or might happen. Rabbit energy is most alive when we are scared and we then become our own worst enemy.
Notice your thoughts and the things you say - those things shape your future. If you keep bemoaning all the bad things that COULD happen, they WILL happen because you will draw them to you. You need to think about what it is you are concerned about. Can you do anything about it? Is it a real and concrete issue? If you have no control over what it is you are worried about or this "thing," hasn't even happened, then STOP. You will do yourself no good if you continue this way. Write your feelings down. See what it is you are most worried about and find ways to face them if they are things you can actually fix. Deal with what you have control over and let those vague feelings of worry go - otherwise, you may end up drawing them into reality. Today is Situation/Challenge Situation: The Hermit! Today is a day for inner knowledge - solitude. Checking in with yourself. What can you do to bring more solitude into your life right now? Inner thought will bring more wisdom. YETI! A legend, the abominable snowman is an ape-like entity that is said to inhabit the Himalayan area of Nepal and Bhutan. (Can also be spotted on the Matterhorn ride at Disneyland if you look for him on the bumpy curve!) Very little evidence has ever been captured as this Yeti loves his privacy. So, if people try to bug you today, give out a roar and hide in the nearest cave! Challenge: Knight of Wands - I always think of this guy as the love knight LOL Charisma and a wanderlust for adventure - irresistible to others, attracts people and loves new things. A networking kind of guy who loves connecting to others. Hanuman - I'm sorry, but this one looks way too much like Homer Simpson and I can't stop giggling. *okayokay* His origins are unclear but he is viewed as the ideal combination of "strength, heroic initiative and assertive excellence" and "loving, emotional devotion to his personal god Rama." He has been the patron god of martial arts such as wrestling, acrobatics, as well as meditation. He symbolizes the human excellences of inner self-control, faith and service to a cause, hidden behind the first impressions of a being who looks like a monkey - and also Homer Simpson. So, the challenge is taming the inner love monkey and finding a nice, quiet cave somewhere so you can get some quality "me time." Daily Mindfulness
3 card spread Today/Focus/Let go of Today: Nine of Swords - Worry is a waste of time and energy. Don't let your thoughts control your path. Let go of unhelpful beliefs and don't let your thoughts run away with you. Allow things to unfold as they will - you are the master of your thoughts and you control where you are going. Conquer the negative thoughts and replace them with positive intentions and plans. Basilisk: A serpent who can cause death with a single glance. The weasel is the only animal that can face and even attack it. It can only be killed with the crowing of a rooster, so, until very recent times, travelers were carrying a rooster when they ventured into areas where it was said that the basilisks lived. Best to either keep your eyes closed til morning or carry a rooster and or weasel with you at all times that way you are covered for anything and you don't need to worry about it. Focus: 6 of Cups - Something from the now is reminding you of the past - a reconnecting to the best feelings you had once and is coming back around again. Open your heart, it is safe so give freely of that open heart. What gifts can you give uninhibited and childlike? Genny Greenteeth: A river hag similar to a grindylow, she would pull children or the elderly into the water and drown them. The name is also used to describe duckweed, which can form a continuous mat over the surface of a small body of water, making it treacherous, especially to unwary children. A warning perhaps to not get too nostalgic for the past - it may come back to bite you - we often paint the past with rosy memories - if you find yourself doing so, perhaps whack yourself in the head with a frying pan ala Tiffany Aching. (Wee big jobs) Let go of: The Emperor - Leadership, authority, rules and achievement. I have the power to control my destiny. Unyielding structure and self discipline. Sphinx: Part human, lion, it is mythicised as treacherous and merciless. Those who cannot answer its riddle must suffer a fate typical in such mythological stories, as they are killed and eaten by this ravenous monster. Today is a good day to steer clear of taxing riddles - it just sounds painful. Squirrel medicine is all about gathering and planning for the future. It teaches us how to gather and store our energies for times of need as well as teaching us how to reserve something for future use. This goes for energy, food, money etc.
It is wise to prepare for any eventuality and Squirrel is great for learning to save for rainy days. Be prepared but don't obsess over it. Gather enough resources so you feel safe and secure for anything that may arise. This also goes for letting go of things that no longer grow corn for you. Lighten your load by eliminating things that are taking up space and no longer serve you. This will create a safe place for you to keep you gatherings. You will have just what you need when you need it and the energies kept there will set your mind free. All will be taken care of! 3 card draw for mindfulness today/what to focus on/what I can let go of Today: Justice - today focus on responsibilities, balancing all the factors. What you put into something is what you get out of it. Remember, positive effort will give you positive results! Valkyrie: In Norse mythology, a valkyrie "chooser of the slain," is one of a host of female figures who decide who will die in battle. After, the valkyries bring their chosen to Valhalla where they prepare for the events of Ragnarok. Valkyries are sometimes accompanied by ravens or swans. So choose well. The choices might not be as vital as who accompanies you at the end of the world, but you never know. Focus on: Queen of Wands - Be upfront with your emotions. The Queen is a self-starter, who knows what she wants and how to get it. Cheerful and charming, she believes in herself and knows how to channel her emotions to get the best results. Have deep faith in your abilities! Lilith: This lady was a badass who got a bad rap in the bible. She knew exactly what she wanted and who she was and was not going to settle for anything less. Channel your inner Lilith today! Let go of: King of Swords - The king is intellectual, analytic and applies reason and logic to his thoughts. These are all great things! But today, the cards are saying, go more with your emotional side and less with the analytical side. It is always good to balance these two things, but if you need to choose, go with the heart first, then the mind! Viking: Explorers, Norse seafarers - they set sail to expand their horizons and it must have taken tremendous planning and thought to do all they achieved. Today might not be the day to channel your inner Ragnar Lothbrock though. Stick to your softer side and save the raids for another day. Ant Medicine is all about patience, stamina, planning and working together. Ants carry food miles and miles to get back to their anthills and they see the greater future needs of their communities. Even if it takes years, they plan and they carry that plan out bit by bit until it is done.
If Ant has shown itself to you it is time to have trust and patience in your life right now. Remember that you will get what you need when you need it most and to have patience while you wait. The important part is what you do while you wait... how can you use your power of creation at this time so it doesn't feel like you are wasting time? Yesterday I posted about the fun trip I had to Spirit Halloween store - a few people asked to see more of the tarot cards I found there, so here they are!
Owl medicine is usually associated with clairvoyance and magic. Owls hunt at night and can see in the dark, accurately pinpointing sounds to great advantage. Their feathers are often called, "deceiver feathers," because they are so silent and you cannot hear him when he flies overhead.
If you have Owl medicine it is very likely that no one can deceive you about much of anything. You can sense what they are up to and won't put up with it. You have a keen insight and intuition - keep trusting that and don't be fooled by people with ulterior motives. Owl brings you total truth and will often come to you in dreams or meditation so pay attention to the signs. Truth always brings enlightenment. Raccoon is the medicine of generous protector! He provides for the underdogs and those in need. He tends to the needs of others before himself and reminds us that generosity always comes around in a full circle to those who give.
If Raccoon has come to you he is a reminder to look around and see who needs you and your strength today. Speak in defense of those who need your voice and share your time and energy with those who could benefit from them. Raccoon asks that you honor yourself and others equally. Provide for yourself and your needs as well so that you don't deplete your strength. Also be aware of people who wish to take and not give in return. Don't keep giving to those who only take - stay balanced! |
