The Priestess The Priestess represents the Moon in her higher aspects - that which joins the Human to the Divine. She sits on the Tree of Life middle pillar - the only one that spans the Abyss - linking Kether to Tiphareth - so joins the supernal triad to the rest of the Tree of Life. Crowley states: In this card is the one link between the archetypal and formative worlds. She is clothed only in the luminous veil of light. It is important for high initiation to regard Light not as the perfect manifestation of the Eternal Spirit, but rather as the veil which hides that Spirit. She is light and body of light. She is the truth behind the Veil of Light. She is the soul of light. She is the initiatrix - connected to the lunar goddess - the huntress and to the mysteries of the woman. She links the hidden and mysterious secrets of the beginnings of life. She is the bridge between our conscious and higher selves and works through our subconscious - in dreams and synchronicity. This is a time to go within and listen for these messages and trust your intuition.

The Aeon (Traditionally called Judgment) Crowley felt that Judgment was obsolete for this new Aeon, the Aeon of Horus. Nuit is again shown but this time in her usual form of arcing over the night sky. Her body is filled with stars and a milk of galaxies - her body forms the omega around a massive egg that holds the image of Horus. The general meaning of this card is Final decision in respect of the past, new current in respect of the future, always represents the taking of a definite step. The past echoes into our present and future - every cause has its effect. We need to look at what we have done and accept it - good or bad- and then let it go, forgive ourselves and be ready to move forward into a new Aeon with all we have learned. Make every act count. Prince of Wands Air of Fire, this is Crowley's idealized image of himself, his personal seal the Mark of the Beast, on his chest. He is also seated in the Thunderbolt asana which was Crowley's favorite yoga posture. His character is noble and generous. He may be an extravagant boaster, while slyly laughing both at the object of the boast and at himself for making it. His courage is strong and endurance indefatigable. He is always fighting the odds and always wins in the long run. (BOT) This is the energy you need when you have a lot of challenges to tackle or when you are feeling doubts about your abilities to deal with things. Stand strong and stay confident! Whatever you are dealing with will pass - use this fiery energy to keep yourself motivated! Daily Mindfulness
Princess of Cups Earth of Water The Character of the Princess is infinitely gracious. All sweetness, all voluptuousness, gentleness, kindness and tenderness are in her character. She lives in the world of Romance, in the perpetual dream of rapture. (BOT) The Princess and the Ace have a special relationship. The Ace is the root - the Princess is the end result, the materialization of what was potential in that Ace. She is not all dreams either, even though Crowley sure makes her seem that way - she is Earth of Water, so she stays grounded. Dreams and romantic ideas from her are made manifest - she is the perfect fertile ground for making dreams a reality. Stay grounded in reality and focus your intentions. This Princess makes your ideas into something you can make real. Daily Mindfulness
Ace of Cups "This card represents the element of Water in its most secret and original form. It is the feminine complement of the Ace of Wands, and is derived from the Yoni and the Moon exactly as that is from the Lingam and the Sun." (BOT) Water and waves burst up and outward, radiating light bursts and love, energy, creativity and beginnings. This is a time to open your heart and your emotions to get you started on your way Daily Mindfulness
The Chariot Here we have the Chariot being drawn by the sphinxes, representing the blending of the Kerubic beasts. The Charioteer is in full armor, like the crab (this card represents the zodiac sign Cancer) and bears the Holy Grail (the carved amethyst) Written in the canopy is ABRAHADABRA, the magical expression of the formula of the marriage and microcosm with the macrocosm (or us to our Holy Guardian Angel). It is also indicative of the male and female uniting that we see in some of the other trump cards and the alchemical symbols of red and white lion and white and red eagle. The path of the Chariot crosses the Abyss, joining Geburah with Binah, dealing with the profound aspects of nature and consciousness. This is a time to really work on focusing our Will (willpower too) This is a card of awesome and powerful energy and we need to harness it wisely and let it drive us forward on our Great Work. It might not always be easy but if we stand strong we can triumph. Daily Mindfulness
The Devil Can we just pause to LOOK at this Devil? He is a happy smiling glad to be here Devil - the Trump of Capricorn - so a happy goat devil! Goat and scapegoat - the Devil card is much maligned - said to be the bad/evil card, but no. All cards have the potential to be good and or evil - just like we humans have that same potential within us. From the Book of Thoth: This card represents creative energy in its most material form; in the Zodiac, Capricornus occupies the Zenith. It is the most exalted of the signs; it is the goat leaping with lust upon the summits of earth... In this sign, Mars is exalted, showing in its best form the fiery, material energy of creation. Blind impulses, ambition, temptation - are a few of the ways this card can be defined - but if we accept our "good" impulses as well as the "bad" ones, we can remained honest and balanced. We are free to choose! Embrace, don't hide your shadow side - by hiding it, it becomes something bigger or darker than it should be. The Great Work is to reconcile ourselves into wholeness - and we do that by facing all our disparate parts and uniting them together. Daily Mindfulness
Knight of Wands Fire of Fire, this Knight and his horse are being almost blasted off the card from some massive force behind them! This is a fantastic fiery energy but! Imagine the Knight riding a horse rocket - if he can't control its direction he is going to crash and burn. From BOT: The moral qualities appropriate to this figure are activity, generosity, fierceness, impetuosity, swiftness and unpredictable actions. This Knight has the potential of being the strongest of the court cards but he needs to learn to grasp and hold on to this energy and use it wisely. Be sure to aim at your goals and know what you want before you fire up your horse rocket. Once you get going, this energy is going to take you to some awesome places! Daily Mindfulness
Three of Cups Our cups overfloweth with sensuous pleasure and beauty here. The love we learned to give ourselves and to send out into the world with balance has now found its mark and is starting to bloom. Small warning here though - The pomegranates. Recall the story of Persephone and how she got stuck living in the underworld half the year. Stay balanced so you don't tip over into greed or overabundance, that won't do anything for you. Daily Mindfulness
Eight of Disks Crowley says, "this card signifies intelligence lovingly applied to material matters, especially those of the agriculturist, arificer and engineer." This card, Prudence, is about waiting and having patience. We plant and wait. Wait and see what comes of the work we have done. Time and consideration is good here. We have learned not to rush headfirst into something now. Like an apprentice trying to learn his craft, we take things slowly and one step at a time. This card is pretty timely, what with having to learn a new "normal," in this covid-19 situation. One breath at a time. |
