Lust This is such a powerful card. Lust (sometimes known as Strength,) is connected with the deities Demeter and Astarte (born by lions) Venus, Babylon and the Beast of Revelation. The Scarlet Woman is riding the Beast here while holding the Holy Grail - imagery that illustrates the ecstatic dissolution of all we are into the universal self of godhead. The message of Lust is this: At some point we are going to come to a level of consciousness so high that the only thing left is the universal consciousness of deity. Our dissolution into that consciousness is what we are trying to attain. Deity Lusts for that moment when we all return to it and we should also Lust for that moment as well. Three of Disks I like this card - it looks wooshy - like getting things done. Crowley says, "it is the material establishment of the idea of the Universe, the determination of its basic form." This card is in Binah which gives us perception and understanding - givings us the acuity to take the ideas from the two and get them going here. This is a time of building up our forces to understand what it is we want to manifest and then get to creating it! Daily Mindfulness
Knight of Cups Fire of Water This Knight and his horse jump off the page in the opposite direction of his brother (Knight of Wands) Fire of Water we have a nice cleansing rain or bubbling spring - as well as slow erosion and dissolving. This Knight is a nice guy, likeable but not very deep. The water sort of blankets his fiery energy, so calling him "shallow water." Crowley says his name is Writ in Water. This is a time to balance your opposites - otherwise you can get a tad unstable. Also, he comes with his own crab bowl and is willing to share ;) Daily Mindfulness
The Fool The Fool holds every trump card within - they all issue forth this 0 card. He creates everything from nothing - The Fool is the nothing we refer to when we say Nothing Created God, Nothing is beyond God. Nothing is Greater than God. He is our start, the initiator, ready to start the Great Work. This can be a scary time but also an exhilarating one. This Fool has the energy and the confidence to boost us onward and upward. There is a very important process starting now and we must start this path with open heart and open mind. During this time of isolation - we have an opportunity to try something different or new - what have you always wanted to try but didn't have the time before? Now's the ideal time to grab some Fool energy and go for it! Daily Mindfulness
I LOVE when this happens. So, I have a RWS app that gives me a card of the day and today was Knight of Wands. Always a good energy card! Then, when I shuffled my Thoth... it gave me... Knight of Wands. Synchronicity! Knight of Wands Fire of Fire, this Knight and his horse are being almost blasted off the card from some massive force behind them! This is a fantastic fiery energy but! Imagine the Knight riding a horse rocket - if he can't control its direction he is going to crash and burn. This Knight has the potential of being the strongest of the court cards but he needs to learn to grasp and hold on to this energy and use it wisely. Be sure to aim at your goals and know what you want before you fire up your horse rocket. Once you get going, this energy is going to take you to some awesome places! Daily Mindfulness
The Moon Let the Illusion of the World pass over thee, unheeded, as thou goest from the Midnight to the Morning. (BOT) One of my favorite cards, looks kind of spooky and unreal and perfect for symbolizing the night and dreams and also the nightmares that can take us while we sleep. While the Priestess has the happier aspects of the Moon, the Moon itself is a bit darker? Look at the colors on the card - the moonlight gives everything a twilight zone vibe. That light illuminates EVERYTHING - including the things we might be trying to hide from ourselves. But look closer - it is lighting up a path for us to walk, it may not be an easy path but it is there for us! The darkest hour before the dawn, the brink of important change - yes! This is a time to let the Moon illuminate everything for us to see - to study it, to embrace it and not fear it. We have all sorts of things inside that make us who we are - don't shun the less pretty sides but be honest about them. If it is something to change, then stand firm and do so knowing you will become stronger for it. This is a powerful energy and magic! Daily Mindfulness
The Hermit Crowley says, "In this trump is shewn the entire mystery of Life in its most secret workings." Illumination from within. The Hermit walks alone as the lights the world. He guides us to the higher spiritual realms and teaches us to go within - to meditate, dream, ponder and study. He guides us to self knowledge and self mastery. It's no surprise that the Hermit has shown up a few times lately. It can be rough, staying within so much, but right now it is what we need to do. And since we kind of have to do so, we shouldn't waste this time. How often have we wished for more down time? It may not be ideal, but while it is here, use it wisely! Daily Mindfulness
Holy cow I needed this card today. My mind is becoming way too frazzled lately. I need her energy! Queen of Wands Water of Fire this Queen is adaptable, calm in her authority and has a fiery energy. She is generous and always willing to help, but she is also impatient when things get in her way. I love the way Crowley describes her, "when she misses her bite, she breaks her jaw!" For all of that, she is a strong woman who will put up with zero crap and will always speak her mind honestly, even if you don't want to hear it. With this kind of fiery, creative and passionate energy, you can get anything done! Daily Mindfulness
Nine of Disks Now this is a lovely looking card. It has balance and a calm feel to it. It sits in Yesod, which gives us satisfaction and reflection. Crowley tells us, "This card is ruled by Venus in Virgo. It shows good luck attending material affairs, favor and popularity. ... the mingling of good luck and good management." He uses 'good luck' twice so that must be a good thing! I also like what he says about the suit of Disks as a whole. "The suit of Disks is much too dull to care; it reckons up its winnings; it does not worry its head about whether anything is won when all is won." Complete realization of material things. We have put in the work and can now settle comfortably into life. There is a lot of fantastic energy here, so stay open to it and keep it flowing. What we give in life is what we get - so be sure to share this awesome abundance. Daily Mindfulness
The Magus First of the alchemical trump cards the Magus represents the element of Mercury. As Crowley says, "Mercury represents action in all forms and phases. His is the fluidic basis of all transmission of activity and on the dynamic theory of the Universe he is himself the substance thereof." Skill, cunning, craft. The Magus is making his world, changing and shaping it according to his Will. That is how powerful he is and you are - you can create your world. Be sure you know exactly what you want though because that is what you are going to get. A quote from the movie What Dreams May Come is perfect for this card: That which you believe becomes your world. |
