Daily Mindfulness
Nine of Strength (Wands) Now, the fiery color screams Wands, but the Swords they are all holding make this one slightly confusing LOL This card reminds us to take a breath and push through the tough times with strength and resolve. Times like these can test our faith in things but if we stay centered, gather our energy and take things one step at a time, we can deal with anything. #dailymindfulness Daily Mindfulness
Knight of Wisdom (Cups) This card totally reminds me of the Grand Master of Flowers because of the birds and flowers. Gorgeous card and it speaks to trusting in your passion. Allowing yourself to dream big and imagining that all you want is happening around you. Open your heart and let all that love and passion flow freely so that it may be returned to you, bringing your dreams to life. #dailymindfulness Daily Mindfulness
The Moon A world of shadow and light where we can face our fears and anxiety with total awareness and learn to dissolve them or integrate them. We are made to be whole and that includes the shadow side of our nature. By letting the moon light illuminate these worries we can see them, understand them and face them. #dailymindfulness Daily Mindfulness
Seven of Strength (Wands) First, I just need to say that the Knight beating an Abyssal Chicken with a chicken leg made me snort so loud. *Ahem* So, this card speaks to dealing with all things overwhelming and teaches us to let go of whatever is causing that stress by beating your Abyssal Chicken about the head and neck with a chicken leg. No, really - it makes us look at what we are confronting and asking ourselves, "is this worth it?" By being honest with ourselves we can either say YES it is and find ways of dealing with it one thing at a time, or we can let it go/delegate it. #dailymindfulness Daily Mindfulness
Six of Wisdom (Cups) I have to admit, I am enjoying trying to guess at what suit the Minors are and I actually got this one correct. Young Person reading and all the adventures they are going on - made me think of Wisdom. This card reminds us to be a child again - to have fun, to play in the world around us once in awhile. There is such magic in that time of life when all things are possible. There is still magic now, we just need to remember how to access it. #dailymindfulness Daily Mindfulness
Ten of Strength (Wands) I always think of this one as the, "it's not what you carry but HOW you carry it," card. The D&D art shows that perfectly because when you have a ton of Goblins on your person, you best try to figure out how to carry them all LOL This card speaks to delegating and expressing yourself. You do not have to do all the things alone. Speak up and ask for help or just to let off some steam. Goblins can be tricky but if you negotiate correctly - they might be willing to listen #dailymindfulness Daily Mindfulness
Ten of Wisdom (Cups) As the minors in this deck aren't labeled it is interesting to try and guess the suit - in this one, it is actually really easy. Heart is highlighted as well as head, the dragons. - this card is about uniting both so that we can relate to others and our environment in emotional balance. Have the wisdom to pause before any action - stay balanced and keep an open heart and mind. #dailymindfulness Daily Mindfulness
Thoughts/Actions/Feelings The Empress/Hierophant/Five of Charisma The Empress brings us a mission - to realize we sit in a place of personal power and we have the ability to nurture ourselves and others in compassion and beauty. The Hierophant (I Love all the crows on this card btw) teaches us the wisdom to perceive the world with spiritual understanding - sometimes that understanding is cryptic and hidden and we must go deep within to see it. The Five of Charisma shows us we need to move away from feeling the victim who lacks anything and see the abundance we do have, in whatever form that may be. (Also, in my first campaign, I earned the trust of a kobold who became my most trusted friend. I rolled lucky on that one) Together we need nurturing thoughts, spiritual understanding and abundance - though we might need to sit awhile to understand it before we can use it. #dailymindfulness So - I pre-ordered this awhile ago and finally got around to opening it up - and I was hesitant because so many people have been hating on this deck.
I can sort of understand why - a small reason is the cardstock is very soft and fragile feeling. But I have other decks of the same material and I just shuffle carefully. The main reason is one that perplexes me to no end. The Minor Arcana are not labelled at all. Just numbered. And since they re-named them anyway, it is very confusing to say the least. Sort of. Strength = Wands Intelligence = Swords Wisdom = Cups Charisma = Coins Obviously they renamed them for D&D attributes and I agree with 2 of them LOL Intelligence and Wisdom work perfectly as Swords and Cups. But I have some issues with Strength and Wands and Charisma as Coins. Some work but most would actually fit better if they were swapped. That aside, I like this deck. A lot. The more I think on it, I can either use a gold sharpie to make a small mark at the bottom of the Minors to denote suit - or use the deck to tell a story, which is what Tarot is, is it not? I mean, yes, you should absolutely learn the card meanings and symbolism - just go do that with a regular RWS deck first. Then come play with this one because the art is gorgeous and as a D & D nerd, it just makes me heart happy. I did an interview with it - photo above. It was SPOT ON. 1: What work are we meant to do together? The World - Endings and Beginnings - Coming to a place of completion and power both internally and externally. (Perfect) 2: What am I ready to embrace and step into with our partnership? Nine of Intelligence (Swords) - Looking at how thoughts can create turmoil and finding a way to observe them from a dispassionate space of stillness. (I Love This) 3: How do you offer and deliver wisdom? The Fool - Follow your heart with innocence and wonder. (Excellent advice) 4: What card in this deck will be a deep teacher for me? Judgment - Our capability to discern what is truly important and to use it to weed the garden of our life. (Spot on again and so where I am right now in life) Because I do know how to read the cards in both the RWS and Thoth traditions, I think this deck will be a bit of a different reading experience. I am pretty much going to use the cards to simply tell me a story - I have found that even just looking at a card will pretty much get you close enough to the "accepted" meanings anyway. This deck will be a very excellent campaign adventure. If you are looking for a deck with and easy RWS type read, don't get this one. But seriously, if you can deal with the Minors being unlabeled and are willing to work at it a bit, I think it will make a great deck to own. Some cards I quite like the art on: |
