I just finished Joyland by Stephen King. Just wow. Perhaps known best as the horror Schlockmeister, King does more then just "horror." He takes your heart on a ride, then he manages to break it and leave you both laughing and crying.
Joyland reminds me a little of both Lisey's Story and Bag of Bones. They all have a gothicky horror feel but are based more on love, which can have horrors all of its own.
I really liked this one. It was a whodunnit that kind of took me by surprise at the end. Just under 300 pages, it's a quick read that will make you happy you took the time to do so.
This constant reader is very satisfied.
Not vicious or malicious
Just de-lovely and delicious
