My embroidery hobby is really taking off. I am sewing like mad trying to accumulate enough stock to open my etsy shop. So much fun!! In other news. It's raining. Again. I would enjoy it a lot more if it wasn't for the fact that it's been raining for weeks and everything is soaked and leaky and moldy feeling. Also that crack of loud thunder at 3 this morning wasn't cool at all. Then this came in the mail: OMG I DIE - It's Pocket Hippo!!! I love it to bits. I have a fabulous pen friend do I not? She is one very talented artist too. So happy!
Did I mention that I have a "problem?" with rescuing sad looking animals from stores? I like to anthropomorphize them and make them happy by taking them home with me. So, I actually dreamed of a blue dinosaur then went to the store and there was ONE left. So of course, I got him. And doesn't it sort of look like the hippo is side-eye saying, ITS BEHIND ME ISN'T IT? Kodiak Cakes!
Power Cakes Unleashed! Sounds so hearty and hale and manly LOL BUT! Unlike those dreadful Volcano Muffins, this was really tasty! Following the directions exactly, produced a spongy and fluffy-ish sort of pancake thing. It smelled good and tasted fine - some butter would have made it complete, but I didn't have any so boo. But it totally stayed in the cup and didn't explode all over the microwave this time! I would totally eat this again and in fact bought more at the store! Next up.... Mashed Potatoes in a cup! (you know you can't wait) A Blustery Day - Rain Drops flying everywhere, trees tipping over. So of course I decide it's a great day to visit Hobby Lobby! (any day is a great day to visit Hobby Lobby) But first I had groceries to buy. I hate going to the grocery store and I totally forgot that today is the stupid super bowl so combined with the crap weather, EVERYONE was in the store with me. Cart chaos - it was ugly. I was sad for awhile but at least they had more than 1 lane open so then I was happy! Hobby Lobby is my happy place - I picked up some embroidery supplies - and then Pocket Hippo took over my new beads - bead therapy! I also got some sashiko needles and am trying that style of embroidery. You can see the bunny I did, and the two patterns I traced out. It is a lot more complicated than it looks. There is a precision to the stitch and space sizes but I love how it looks. I am going to try to embroider that shirt too - maybe a wee hippo or something. Oh! I got a new flashlight - and it is super bright! So of course I took a photo of it and it totally reminded me of that Twilight Zone episode, Eye of the Beholder/The Private World of Darkness... Then it made me remember that I was always weirded out by the woman's voice. While she is covered in the "takes 9 years to remove," bandages, she has a older husky voice. But when she pops out looking "hideous" it's a totally different voice! Turns out two different actresses played the part. Mystery solved. Wasn't that a fun post to read? Just wait... a new Food in a Cup is coming! *breathes heavily*
