So Mars is looking bright tonight (big bonus points if you thought of Firenze saying that in Harry Potter) But it is the closest to Earth that it's been since 2003. So, you should pop out and see it if you can. Last night it was cloudy, so I looked via my Sky View app. Mars was directly on my Alice in Wonderland shelf. Jupiter floated above my dresser making Simple Donut very happy.
And that is all the day had to say about that.

First the good part of the morning - a new hair cut. It is off my neck and yet I still have stuff to play with - a job well done! I can also now see the shimmering lilac color in it which makes me happy. That is an accurate representation of me most mornings but was further emphasized while grocery shopping at Ralphs this morning. Every Sunday is slightly traumatizing but today was tripled the bad. 3 Check out lanes open and 10 to 15 people waiting in each lane. There were employees wandering about the aisles stocking things so I can't help but wonder why they were not actually checking people out until they were asked to do so. Meh.
My inner filter crapped out on me and when I stepped in line - wayyyy back far away from the register - I said, "is this for real?" the nice woman in front of me said, "I said the same thing" It was like being at Disneyland on a Summer day in June, waiting for Space Mountain, only there was just line, no ride. But, I did get a kick ass hair cut this morning. Yesterday was ... weird. I woke up feeling off even though I got more sleep than I usually do on a Monday. Everything had that off vibe. But I still got stuff done and was in a decent mood, for a Monday. Then all of a sudden I got all shaky and clammy and unwell. Where did THAT even come from?? I spent so much time not feeling well in the restroom that the motion sensor light WENT OFF leaving me in the dark, whimpering. Did I mention I was AT WORK? So awkward. Luckily traffic was decent, for a Monday, so I was able to get home fairly quickly. There was one light that was backed up though. While I was waiting and wondering if I would make it home alright, I noticed 2 little old men on the opposite sidewalk were taking turns hitting this pipe thing sticking out of the ground with a wrench. They would bang it a bit then stop and ponder the pipe thing. Then one of them would hit it again. I have no idea what they were doing but I then noticed that EVERYONE, 3 lanes of backed up traffic, were all watching these little men smack a pipe with a wrench. Best part of the commute. I laughed the rest of the way home. Currently: Reading: Tarot a Psychology - Rosengarten and Alice's Adventures in Wonderland Decoded by David Day Watching: Dante's Peak Listening: Soothing Ambient Music and the drone of the AC outside my window Wondering: If my stomach is still annoyed at me Every year the management company for my office sends us a thank you for spending money with us and gives us a free lunch from In N Out Burger. (See the big In N Out Mobile <---) WeeCubeMan plans this day pretty much a year in advance. I feel sorry for anyone getting in his way of the In N Out Mobile because that boy loves In N Out day. (Think Stanley /The Office on Pretzel Day) All in all it is a pretty big event. Every year, I miss it. They tend to come on the day I am NOT working. Although Haysue said I was more than welcome to come in and partake, I didn't really want to make that long drive on an off day. At first, I was annoyed by this until I found out that the In N Out mobile cannot have hot oil in it... hence, no french fries. Really, the only reason I go to In N Out is the french fries, so I came to the conclusion that I am not missing anything. Aren't you glad I shared this story? So, yesterday was Monday and a work day and not a day I am usually in any kind of good mood. (Traffic, idiots texting while driving, traffic, getting up too early for work, traffic...) Also, it was Amazon Prime Day and the entire site crashed. I had a list people! Yet, after I got home and relaxed a bit, I realized I was in a very good mood for some reason... (even though I am in the middle of PMS which may be TMI but the only time the PMS thundercloud in my head goes away is when I start and that isn't for a few days I hope. Love the good mood, hate the period.) Today, I am still trying to figure it out because the PMS clutsy's and brain fog is totally still here. I dropped the cap to my vitamin jar THREE TIMES and didn't curse once. (although the ARE YOU KIDDING ME's came out a few times.) I didn't sleep especially well, it was way too humid (another problem right now is the hellishly high humidity level that is hanging around unwanted and totally unloved,) and I kept having very odd dream bits about having dogs that were rabbits that I had somehow forgotten I even owned? Or being chased by people who were vampire like things that wanted other people with them? I did notice that the plant I rescued from work is actually trying to survive. It was left in a overly AC'd building for a few days and then overwatered and looked like it was about to both drown and burn to a crisp simultaneously. So, I brought it home, repotted it and figured it was going to die. YET LOOK AT IT (photo of sad looking but still alive rose bush) I also noticed that this house has an abundance of wasps nest and it totally creeped me out. I HATE WASPS. It was like an overlooked infestation and made me feel a little shuddery and sick. I was able to get a few of them but the main mass is too high for me to reach without getting stung. Meh. Still, in a freakishly good mood. Was it the little retail therapy from managing to get a few things from Amazon in between their pages crashing? I did finally get a book that I had forgotten about, on my wish list from 8 years ago. EIGHT years ago! I totally forgot I even had that wishlist and now I just want everything that is on it - again. I dunno. I am happy to have this coming to me but it doesn't feel like the source of this weird, unknown to me good mood. Why am I even questioning this? Probably because it is a relatively unknown quantity and anything unknown is suspect until I figure it out properly. Good mood = reason for good mood. I am still searching for the reason LOL Until then, here is a funny *meme* like thing made at work with WeeCubeMan - who was looking for a certain scene in a Bugs Bunny cartoon the other day. I use the Winged Bugs as my work gmail avatar and always stick it in the signature to crack people up. WeeCubeMan found the smooshed cheek bugs looking for something and I thought they looked like a meme. What I really look like in a selfie vs what I think I look like: I decided that since it was 88 degrees and 77 % humidity that it would be a great day to re-pot a few of my houseplants. But I love going to my nursery, they are so nice and helpful there and look at all that color. You cannot help but be cheered up when you walk in all that color and scent. I finally got my Pothos, King George, a bigger pot and fresh soil and moved a very tiny potted cactus into King George's old pot. Now they both have much more room and they smell just wonderful in that fresh and moist soil. Although, I probably should have waited to repot them until evening. It was so humid, my bra turned into an Easy Bake Oven. Not Pleasant at all. I gave Ed new water so he wouldn't feel left out. Ed is a Marimo moss ball I had in my Betta Fish's tank and when Syd Fisheous died, I couldn't just toss Ed. He is a great listener. I think I am going back to the nursery tomorrow to get that lavender plant or several. I also really need to get a large umbrella or something to give more shade to the yard in the summer heat. And that was my day. It was lovely. Except for the whole Bra = Easy Bake Oven. ;) I wanted to play with my new zoom lens so here are some photos of my day. I am so not used to the extra weight of the lens - I felt like I was lifting weights after awhile.
I took most of these photos from a long distance to the subject and loved how the zoom worked. I need to remember to bring a tripod next time though as the camera shake was annoying. The statue of the Civil War looking soldier, I took that from 3 streets away. I could see right up its nose... not that I wanted a photo of that. There were an abundance of birds and hawks out and I got quite a few but these were the best. Note, the bird sitting on Jesus's head and also on the really white statue's head. Also weird? A skywriter - which I haven't seen in a long time. It spelled out Crunch Fitness and a flag symbol over Forest Lawn... not really their prime market? Or maybe to get the visitors to think about their own mortality? That last photo is a symbol I haven't seen yet on a grave marker so I wanted to get a close-up so I could look it up. And happy to see some Bees on the flowers. All in all a good trip! I like Firework shows - the type that big places put on, they are way up high in the sky and last about 20 minutes and then we all go home happy.
I HATE the illegal loud ass crap that goes on until 2 AM in my neighborhood. Not cool people. So, let's try to be a bit more mindful that some people don't like loud noises that late, it's rude. Also, some people really freak out and have panic attacks because of the noises and animals can be very scared of them as well. Try to remember others around you and be kind. Happy 4th of July - celebrate kindly. Saving Bees! For a long time now I have seen many many bees on the ground, usually in parking lots or streets. I honestly thought they were all dead and it made me very sad. Then I read an article the other day by David Attenborough, about saving bees. (click that to read it) I have no idea if the bees I have been seeing were dead or only just so exhausted that they couldn't finish flying home or not, but I am going to do my best to try and help them anyway I can. From the article: “This time of year bees can often look like they are dying or dead, however, they're far from it. Bees can become tired and they simply don't have enough energy to return to the hive which can often result in being swept away. “If you find a tired bee in your home, a simple solution of sugar and water will help revive an exhausted bee. Simply mix two tablespoons of white, granulated sugar with one tablespoon of water, and place on a spoon for the bee to reach. You can also help by sharing this post to raise awareness.” The water and sugar mix will rehydrate the bee and give them much-needed energy when they get tired. Also, a friend of mine said that often they get cold and can't fly. So if you see one on the ground, try holding it gently, see if that helps, then try a bit of sugar water. If you are worried about hurting them or getting stung, you can scoop them up gently with paper. It may seem silly to some, but we need Bees and it is so sad to see so many of them on the ground either dead or dying because they can't get back to their hives and WE NEED BEES. So go forth and help a bee! Grocery Shopping Made Amusing - Thank you colorful balloons. The Octopi Balloons were still there but looking much more deflated. I wish I had bought them last weekend LOL Today they were joined by dolphins and a very sassy looking Unicorn. Here is a photo of my lunch. I cannot work up much more enthusiasm today. Being that it is close to the 4th of July, there were loud ass fireworks going off all night. I was tempted to get in the car and hunt the people down. 2 AM is not a good time to set those M80s off people. I am working on a blog to save bees - so check back soon. I get so sad seeing them on the ground. |
