Weecubeman has gotten me hooked on these things and I don't even like espresso or coffee like things. But it looked good so I tried it and exclaimed, "that is effin tasty." So, he's been on a kick to make the best possible affogato ever. I, of course, offered to help, by tasting and pointing out helpful things like, "the espresso might be done its been 2 minutes," and "your espresso is now going nuclear in the microwave." (see photo below) The first one we tried was made with that canned espresso, High Brew and Hagen Dazs vanilla ice cream. Aside from the over microwaved nuclear burnt taste of the espresso, I thought it was good. I was told it was not good and I had nothing to compare it to but I would see good at some future point. Weecubeman is a very determined individual. He won't stop until he achieves whatever it is he has set out to do so I figured I was going to be eating a lot of this stuff in my future. I am totally ok with that. Next try was Black Market Gelato and Chameleon Cold-Brew Espresso. Weecubeman likes things hot. Like, nuclear hot. Hence the exploded espresso in the microwave at work. It still smells like espresso. The pour: Much tastier espresso. Not as burnt tasting but the gelato still melted quickly. I still liked it but Weecubeman was not impressed. So. I googled. Turns out we are using way too much espresso (about 3 tablespoons not a half mug) and not enough gelato. Oh and we really should freeze the glasses or cups before we pour stuff into it. I don't really drink a lot of caffeine so even the small amount of espresso made me bouncier than usual. (I am already pretty bouncy so it was amusing) I thought I'd be able to get a lot of work done after drinking it, but I only ended up staring at pretty things for an hour before wanting a nap. Affogato scale of awesomeness a 10 being the best First affogato: 4 Second affogato 7 Third affogato: TBD Even the first experiment was much tastier than Uncle Lester's Bacon soda (story for another day) Yes, my job is probably a lot more fun than most peoples. I consider myself incredibly lucky - even if I have to listen to 8 hours of mariachi music while I am there.

So this happened over the weekend. I mean... EWWWWWWWWW. NOT my roses! They were looking so good and then that happened. And those monster wee beasties were eating all the buds. So, I killed them. My roses have put up with a lot from me so far. I normally don't buy rose plants but now that I have them, I am determined not to kill them. Pictured is Bob Elias, Stephen Russo and Robert Patrick - (people I work with) I was sad to find out awesome artist, Bob Elias passed away Sunday. He was so talented and fun to be around. He taught me to use Windex instead of water to mix my paint, it makes it smoother. The first time I met him was at a dinner function at work. I remember thinking I wanted to get a slice of red velvet cake before it disappeared and as I walked over to it, Bob was cutting a slice out of it. Then he proceeded to take the REST of the cake, and leave the slice. I about died laughing. He did love his sweets and I will miss seeing him when he popped in to bring us more of his art. Also, Charlotte Rae died yesterday. MRS GARRETT!! (Diff'rent Strokes and Facts of Life) That was a piece of my childhood right there. Rest in Peace to them both. Soar eternally free. Accurate representation of me yesterday. All day long at work was non stop mariachi music. I don't mind it in the morning, it can help pep you up. But then I realized it was still ARRIBA ARRIBA whoop whooping at noon... then at three. By five I was seriously doubting my sanity. I tried countering it by playing R Carlos Nakai flute music but that really didn't work. I decided to just get into traffic because I couldn't take it anymore.
