Since the Red Dot Auction was last night, I can now post the canvas I donated. It's acrylic on canvas and is my all time favorite monster and Chuck Jones character, Gossamer. Let's get him some spider goulash :) It was such a fun event and I am jazzed to have been a part of it. So far, it looks like the event did quite well too. My piece was bid on from the Heritage Auction site and went for 150 dollars. I have to say I am so pleased and well, surprised LOL I was thinking about what to do next - as far as art journaling goes and it occurred to me that I have material ready made, in my head, every night when I try to sleep! I have insomnia and most nights it's rough for me to get under before 1 AM... when it's really bad, I tend to watch the TV series, LOST. Usually season one, since that was my favorite. I wanted to express that in my journal so I started to watercolor the beach camp area. I was going to make it more abstract and faded but this came out instead. It isn't quite finished and I am not going to post the end product since I am going to write over the image. But I am tickled to find so many scene ideas for background material. When stuck for ideas, look to your mental fluff - there is a lot of good things in it :) C I just occurred to me that I never uploaded a photo of my first shapes piece. This one was sort of a rough draft as I was fiddling around to see how I liked the various bits of paper and material for making the shapes... Usually I just use markers, but this time I wanted to try cutting them out. Sort of an abstract collage of color and shape. If I hadn't already said this was Disneyland, would you have recognized it? C~ While I was waiting for my Red Dot Auction piece to dry, I decided to play around with another of my favorite Chuck Jones characters... Pussyfoot. Who loves to scritch up with Mark Anthony the dog. The piece is just for me, I have no permission to use it, but it was fun practice and gawd, Chuck knew how to draw eyes! I had a piece of board here and decided to try a little art with "It's a Small World," in mind. First I drew in the elements and then painted away. I HATE painting letters LOL You can probably tell.
