Ram's Head with Hollyhock!

It is one of my favorite Georgia O'keeffe paintings and I think it's turning out ok - although the sky is taking forrr eeee veerrrr LOL

These were made for friends as birthday gifts.
The first is from Back to the Future - Pepsi Perfect! My friend is a avid BTTF collector and loved this!
Then I made a little hippo love for another friend. 
I think both of these will make it into my etsy shop soon!

This is just a prototype - I am not liking the dragon heads but it was a nice start. I am doing these in black floss on red material.

Since the ending of Game of Thrones I have been doing some embroidery to keep the spirit alive. First I started with just a hoop design and then decided to put it on a baseball tee. I like the way it came out! Although, that tee was a pain in the butt to embroider LOL

I wanted to see how various types of stitches would look so I could adjust for mass production LOL  I had fun with this one. I think I would make it smaller though.

This was a case of me wondering if I could embroider something to look like the art on the card. I think it turned out pretty well actually.

And that is what I have been up to lately.

I loved this one a lot. The paint in this kit was smooth but also sort of chalky - and I like the way it looked when finished. 

​I am feeling sort of "off," because I don't have a new one... yet ;)

Following my addiction to Hobby Lobby.... this is sort of what came out of it so far. I can't believe I haven't posted any photos yet!  I love embroidery and am discovering all sorts of things to do with it.  I have also discovered that I need a lot more floss and hoops than I first thought LOL

I also found GLOW IN THE DARK embroidery floss and OH YES I love it.   There are metallic flosses too which I like the look of, but man, that stuff is like sewing with tin foil!

Anyway, I am hoping to practice and make lots of fun things and maybe open at etsy shop if things flow in that direction.

​The llama and birds are kits I bought which were fun!

​I bought a book on stumpwork and also painting with thread so I am off to have some fun learning this new art form!

So, I think I am totally addicted to this kits!  I love how meditative it is and watching the picture form is almost like doing a puzzle... it just kind of emerges.

This is my next one, which is the same company, but more ambitious - it is a lot bigger than this hummingbird or the owl I did first.

It has been a long long time since I have done a Paint by the Numbers - I think I was 10?  I am also pretty sure it was a simple picture and nothing like this winter owl!  I have to say it was a lot harder than I thought it would be. Not difficult hard, but it was a challenge finding all those teeny numbers.

It was harder than straight painting and it took a lot longer - I'd have finished it in one day as a straight painting exercise but this took several days and on the whole, I enjoyed it a lot. It required me to slow down and breathe. It was a great way to practice mindfulness and staying focused on the moment.

I love the way it turned out too. I normally dislike wintery scenes but this one just kind of captured me and I am happy I bought it to try.  I think I am going to find more of them now!

I tend to re-read the Harry Potter books around September 1st - as that is when he first heads to Hogwarts and it occured to me to make my September spread from the viewpoint of Harry - as if he was the one filling it in - here are some pix!

Not all of the weekly spread pages are filled in yet as I tend to do those as I go - the postcard you see will be attached as an extra layer with washii tape after I fill in one side of that week.
