I love having a gift card to Amazon - it lets me dive into my wish list and try to decide what it is I want to get with it.
1: Two Lives: A Conversation in Painting and Photographs - O'Keeffe's paintings complement Stieglitz's photographs in this unique study of the two artists. I love O'keeffe but I adore Stieglitz and love his photography. 2: What Remains - Sally Mann - my favorite photographer. This book is no longer actually available other than private seller (expensive) so I am going to have to get lucky on day and find it where I can actually afford it. 3: Werner's Nomenclature of Color - THIS BOOK IS JUST SO PRETTY! A taxonomic guide to the colors of the natural world and pocket sized too. 4: Alfred Stieglitz Master of Photography Series - his work is so amazing and I love to just stare at his photos. 5: Stories in Stone - a Field Guide to Cemetery Symbolism and Iconography - because my inner taphophile hasn't had a new book on the subject lately. I was looking in an old hard drive for something and found all sorts of old photos that made me smile: So Throwback Thursday?
1: High School Color Guard - those feathery bits of hair LOL 2: Working at the old Movieland Wax Museum, at xmas time Gadh that hair and eye shadow LOL I look like Suzy from Moonrise Kingdom here LOL 3: I LOVED that shirt - I think this was a Sea World 4: Going to see The Phantom of the Opera with my parents. That's my mom and wow I forgot how much I loved that red blouse I had on. 5: Modeling photo off my card 6: Also off my modeling card 7: I sorta got my Dad on the Log Ride at Knotts Berry Farm. It was amusing to hear him yell. In my defense, he had to have seen that last drop while we were waiting in line... Just sayin. 8: Random photo because I liked my hair? 9: The pic that I made my avatar into. I was The Tardis for Halloween and I stole Charlie Chaplin's hat and gave him my Tardis light - it was better that way. I love this scene from the movie Office Space. Peter just keeps on sleeping and sleeping and rolling over and more sleeping. That NEVER happens for me. Where I currently live is way too noisy for this sort of good sleep so when it happens it's like a major event. Consequently, I now have an abundant amount of energy even before I crack open my Diet Dr Pepper. My brain is spinning around like a hamster on crack at the moment. It's kind of amusing me to no end LOL My fitbit was even amazed at my sleeping prowess today: . This also cracked me up so much that I actually snorted out loud in a most un-ladylike fashion.
I had a fabulous late birthday lunch with my friends today and it was so much fun! The photos in order: 1: Overall view 2: Vintage hippo print on crepe paper 3: Chinchilla fun books to color and play 4: Hipster Hippo Print on book page 5: A Life Magazine from the WEEK I was born! 6: Hippo Makeup bag, Harry potter pin/Lego set/Bullet Journal and candy 7: OMG HIPPO FAIRY LIGHTS I HAD NO IDEA THIS WAS A THING 8: Hippo Bookmark! What a fun day!! I was also able to finally give my friends their gifts too: A Pepsi Perfect from BTTF and Fiona love! I'd also like to point out that everything still smells like Cherry Chapstick outside. Is there a Cherry Chapstick plant I am unaware of?
Also also! I figured out my mystery person who gifted me the generous Amazon gift card LOL It was one of the friends I met for lunch LOL She thought she had put her name on the gift card but it wasn't added! All in all a wonderful day - great weather, great friends and a very good time! Cherry Chapstick to be exact. I cannot figure it out but it's making me relive my horrible experience of 6th grade camp* again and I am sort of twitchy now. I was already sort of twitchy to begin with too. I have had this stupid head cold for over a week now and it just lingers. I have Cloroxed all available surfaces and I still caught it and now it won't go away. I haven't been sick in years and I forgot how absolutely annoying these things are. I am sort of surprised I can even smell this weird cherry chapstick smell since my nose is so full but I think I tracked it down to a flower and or weed that is outside and wafting in my window on the breeze. The smell of it, not the actual plant, although that would be fun to see. ;) * I hated 6th grade camp. It was hot and dusty and they only let you take 2 showers the entire time you were there. My first scheduled shower was the day I got there and my last shower was the day before I left. It was disgusting. One of my bunkmates couldn't even figure out how to get into her bottom bunk... we had to roll her in off the floor. Everyone smelled and was overheating by day 2 and I am pretty sure 1 classmate got heatstroke and hurled in some bushes during a forced hike. Although, he may have deserved it, he was wearing a very heavy knitted Christmas sweater with reindeer on it. In May. In Southern California. *blinkblink* Now that I think about it, he may have been brilliant in that after he yarked he got a ride down the mountain in a semi and didn't have to do anymore forced hikes. And don't even get me started on the square dancing... thinking back on it, the only fun and or "useful," bit of knowledge I gleaned from this experience was that if you crunched a wintergreen lifesaver with your mouth open, you could see sparks. I am positive this will still come in handy someday... eventually. And what did that even have to do with cherry flavored Chapstick? I had to use an abundance of it because it was so hot and dry my lips stopped working. After I got home I threw away the tube and never used it again. |
