Daily Mindfulness Spirit Tarot/Halloween Oracle
I just really need to point out here that I did NOT in any way fudge this draw. If I was going to do that, I wouldn't have picked spiders to do it LOL *shudders* Spirit: Six of Pentacles - A balance of give and take - it could be money or energy or what have you, this is about giving when you can give and asking for help when you need it. Showing gratitude is important here as well. Use your talents to create and share with others, opening up that flow of energy and prosperity. Arachne -Arachne was a talented mortal weaver who challenged Athena, goddess of wisdom and crafts, to a weaving contest; this hubris resulted in her being transformed into a spider. When Athena saw that Arachne had not only insulted the gods but done so with a work far more beautiful than Athena's own, she was enraged and punished her by giving her a lot of legs and made her bald. Moral of the story? Ticking off Goddesses is never a good idea. Halloween Oracle: Spider - This is about web-weaving, about connection and working with others. Grandmother Spider and Spider Woman are key deities that give us wisdom, safety and communication. This is also a reminder of the need for balance - of giving of ourselves but not overdoing it so that we become depleted. Together: This is a day to remember balance. Of what we have, what we can share and also what we may need to ask for. It is also a reminder of humility, of being grateful for our talents and wanting to share them with others with kindness and love. Don't be all hubristic - I mean, you don't want to risk being snatched bald-headed with a lot of extra legs? Right? And a wee ear worm to complete this post: Weavers, Weavers, We are weaving the web of life...

Daily Mindfulness Santa Muerte/Spirit Tarot
The Hanged Man (SM) A time to pause, distance ourselves from the outer world and meditate. Prepare ourselves for going deeper within and find perspective. This can often require us to be passive, which can be hard for some people, but by remaining receptive, we open ourselves up to learning and positive change. Spirit: The Hanged Man - Things are up in the air right now and we may need to surrender our egos for a bit and let the need to control everything go. Sometimes we need to look at different points of view to see the bigger picture and gain understanding. It's not easy but necessary. Use this time to reflect and learn. If we take the time now, we can try to avoid any problems becoming Death/Tower issues! Imp - A small lesser demon and not necessarily always evil. Imps were mischievous rather than evil and in some regions they were attendants of the gods. They were often portrayed as lonely and in search of human attention. They often used jokes as a means of attracting friendship, which often backfired when people became annoyed of the imp's endeavors, usually driving it away. Together: Now is time to slow down and try to find perspective on the things that may be causing confusion. Sometimes we need change and we can't see what needs to be changed if we don't take a pause to reflect. The time we spend on it now may feel frustrating and slow, but taking the time now means it won't blow up to massive proportions later. Daily Mindfulness Spirit/Santa Muerte Tarot
Spirit: The Empress - the Love Goddess - all facets of love - she loves the sensual textures of life and has a great compassion for all things. She rules over nature with ease and comfort and nurtures passion, friendships and romance. She brings abundance effortlessly. Kali - a Hindu Goddess - destroyer of evil forces and worshipped by devotional movements and tantric sects variously as the Divine Mother and Divine Protector. The Empress (SM) The colors of this card speak to its explosion of creativity, passion and spontaneity - The Empress has an abundance of life giving creativity! I love this part, signified by the chopped off branch, "an action that is too impulsive and undertaken with little experience could bring quick results that don't last - like a branch that has been prematurely removed before fully developing." Together: Plan actions rationally but keep that creative desire and passion balanced so that everything blooms just when it needs too. Daily Mindfulness Spirit/ Santa Muerte Tarot
Spirit: Four of Cups - Emotionally looking inwards or perhaps a bit too much self-absorption going on. Things are being offered to you but if you aren't paying attention, they will disappear in a cloud of smoke. Notice where your attention is going and try to focus on what is being offered, right in front of you. Ghoul - Some say a ghoul is a desert-dwelling demon that can assume the guise of an animal. It lures unwary people into the desert wastes or abandoned places to slay and devour them. According to Newt Scamander: A ghoul is an ugly creature that resembles a slimy, buck-toothed ogre. They tend to live in the attics or barns of wizards and witches. They are relatively harmless creatures and are just seen as nuisances because of the noise they make. Four of Cups Here we have the stability of the 4's combined with the suit of emotions can give us a bit too much security to the point of monotony. We are going to get stuck here in apathy and boredom if we don't find a good balance to harmonize all that restlessness. Together: Decide what it is you want to be doing and then do it. There are opportunities waiting all around you but you are too busy being distracted by the ghoul of apathy to get up off your bum and stop stagnating around. Daily Mindfulness Spirit/Santa Muerte Tarot
Spirit: Eight of Swords - You are allowing your thoughts to hold you prisoner and you probably can't see the whole picture right now. Don't let your thoughts run away with you - deal with the things you can and let the rest go. You can't control everything so don't let it stress you out. You are the master of your thoughts! Pegasus - is a mythical winged stallion - one of his many jobs was to carry Zeus's lightning bolts. Because of his years of faithful service to Zeus, Pegasus was later honoured with transformation into a constellation! Eight of Swords (SM) I love this depiction - a very stormy sky, waiting to burst open and all those pointy swords waiting before it. There are a lot of thoughts swarming here and we can't seem to find focus or our bearings. What we need to do is stop fighting the inner storms and be willing to change our minds or to move to a different choice, if all the options we are currently using are causing distress. Find a calm and rational way to focus on what it is we really need to be doing and let the rest of it go. Together: This is a time to really focus your thoughts to find clarity in the confusing storm inside us. You rule your thoughts and you get to decide what is what. Use your inner Pegasus to fly over the storm and get a different perspective on things so you can decide where to go next! Daily Mindfulness Spirit/Antique Anatomy Tarot
Spirit: Nine of Wands - There is a wariness here. Things have happened in the past and you are kinda wondering if they might happen again. But you got this! You made it already and stuff happens and it will happen again. You have what you need already to deal with whatever comes up. Pumpkinhead - I am rusty with my 80s horror movies but I did see this one! Bad things happen to this guys son and when he wants revenge he has to resurrect a corpse, which rises as a gigantic, demony monster named Pumpkinhead. Many bad things happen and then I think they set it on fire along with the guy who started all this and the witch from the beginning of the movie buries him again as the new Pumpkinhead. Yeah, 80s horror movies rocked LOL Nine of Rods There is probably a lot going on right now in life and it feels like pure chaos and all you want to do is curl up and whimper - BUT! Stay strong and determined - remember, you are the sky, everything else is just the weather. It may be confusing now but you have come so far so don't give up now! You have everything you need so keep going - you got this. Together: I tend to call this one the side-eye card since the RWS deck's dude looks like he is side-eying the wands - but it is a good description of the card. It feels like you are giving everyone that look and you aren't sure from which direction the next problem is going to come. Stay strong - one thing at a time. And if you need a break... watch some cheesey 80's horror flicks! Daily Mindfulness Spirit/Thoth Tarot
Temperance - A good day to find the middle ground and create balance in our lives. Blend the spiritual side with the material side to create harmony. Gather what you need together to find the perfect mix to create what you want. Sea Nymph - is a female nature deity of the sea, or female spirit of sea waters and they symbolized everything that is beautiful and kind about the sea. Art Another alchemical trump, this card represents the consummation of the royal marriage that happened in Atu VI. (I know there is a lot of alchemical goodness in this deck and that can be confusing when trying to learn tarot. But once you get the hang of it you see that the alchemy is fundamental to this deck.) The prior alchemical trumps (mercury, salt and sulfur,) created vitriol, a universal solvent - now what do we dissolve in it? Old life, into a new one! As Crowley says, "this is only a crude symbol of the spiritual idea, which is the satisfaction of the desire of the incomplete element of one kind to satisfy its formula by assimilation of its equal and opposite." Or as Lady Harris wrote to Crowley about this card: Temperance is a kettle of fish! ;) Basic meaning: Combination of forces - action based on accurate calculation - success after elaborate maneuvers. Together: This is a day of blending and harmonizing - of finding a perfect balance. It is letting go of old things to create space for new things. It is about gathering up everything we have created in our lives and shaping who we are. Daily Mindfulness Spirit/Thoth Tarot
That Quezalcoatl has been showing up a lot lately - he was in the Strength card a few days ago! Ace of Swords (S) This is the Universe saying YES today. Clear communication is key - use your mind to solve any problems that arise - try to use impartial clarity and rationality today. Quezalcoatl - an Aztec sky and creator god often referred to as The Feathered Serpent . He was also the patron god of the Aztec priesthood, of learning and knowledge. Quezalcóatl became the god of the morning and evening star, and his temple was the centre of ceremonial life in Tula. Also a Wind God of learning, writing and books. Ace of Swords (Thoth) This is the primordial Energy of Air, The Essence of the Vau and the integration of the Ruach. The Ruach is the intellect part of our soul and to some, the mind is the great enemy because it doesn't like to identify with any higher sources - so this tends to give us all sorts of conflicts and frustrations. The swords can be so tough and full of sorrow because of all this inner turmoil of the mind but if you wield this sword wisely it is a weapon to cut away all the extraneous crap. This is the sword of the Magus and the word Thelema is engraved on the blade. Thelema, WILL, our will, to see past the confusion of the mind and cut ourselves free. Together: Invoking- this is called up energy as opposed to a natural force - so make sure you are wielding it well and for the good. Let it bring clarity to the horizon and cut a path for you to follow in your Great Work! Daily Mindfulness Antique Anatomy/Thoth Tarot
The Sun (AA) This card heralds so much joy and celebration in you life! The bright sun warms and illuminates everything around you giving you focus and a huge boost of self-esteem! Companion cards to The Sun are The Magician and Wheel of Fortune, so, use this burst of energy to channel your will into positive creation - and don't forget to share this joy with others - keep the energy moving! The Sun (Thoth) From the Book of Thoth: This is one of the simplest cards; it represents Heru-ra-ha (Horus) Lord of the New Aeon, in his manifestation to the race of men as the Sun spiritual, moral and physical. He is the Lord of Light, Life, Liberty and Love. This Aeon has for its purpose the complete emancipation of the human race. Now that is a mouthful but such a good one! Our job, in the Great Work, is to end up dancing like those twin babies there, male/female, eternally young, innocent - dancing in the light here on Earth in complete freedom. Together: Glory, gain, pleasure - the warm energy from the Solar God. Find your place in the Sun - there is tremendous power and joy there, let it flow through you. Daily Mindfulness Thoth/Santa Muerte Tarot
Lust This is our card of feminine power and passion as well as harnessing our animal natures. Think of the Goddesses Demeter and Astarte (born by lions) Venus and the volcanic fires and Babylon the Great and the Beast of Revelation. The images on this card illustrate the ecstatic dissolution of all we are (blood of the Saint's) into the universal godhead (babylon and the Holy Grail she embodies) The mystery of Babylon concerns the reabsorption of all life and consciousness into Binah (the great supernal female.) When we continue on our path of the Great Work, at some point we will hit a level of consciousness so high that the only thing higher is the universal consciousness of deity itself. Letting ourselves dissolve into that infinite is the ultimate marriage and deity Lusts for that moment - when we all return to her. Strength This is one of my favorite Strength cards - those colors and that dynamic energy flies off the card. This Strength is telling us not to suffocate the animal energy in us - instead, we need to sublimate it, control it and channel it with determination. There is so much energy here for us to use as long as we use it wisely. No hesitating - be strong and trust yourself! Together: This is a day to revel in the life we have. Life is a process and each step should be lived fully with courage, energy, strength, and "une grand passion." Lusting ever higher for the ultimate connection with the Universe. |
