Daily Mindfulness
Prince of Wands Air of Fire, his character is noble and generous. He may be an extravagant boaster, while slyly laughing both at the object of the boast and at himself for making it. His courage is strong and endurance indefatigable. He is always fighting the odds and always wins in the long run. (BOT) .. . This is the energy you need when you have a lot of challenges to tackle or when you are feeling doubts about your abilities to deal with things. Stand strong and stay confident!

This is such an apt card for the current times. We are being asked to isolate while the Covid germ runs around - and it can feel like we are being forced to do something against our will - but we need to look at it in a different light. The Hanged Man is perfect for this. The Hanged Man Crowley tells us that this Hanged Man symbolizes the descent of the light into the darkness in order to redeem it. A massive sacrifice that will create/sustain/destroy the Universe. Crowley also seems to feel that the Hanged Man as a whole doesn't really fit into the New Aeon tarot deck anymore. and warns us that, the whole idea of sacrifice is a misconception of nature." It is counterproductive. .. . This Hanged Man still represents the descent of light into darkness but not to redeem it as such. Redemption here is the duty of the enlightened to bring that enlightenment to the unenlightened. This is where we stop and rest in the moment - assess the situation, until we see our way forward. Take this opportunity to reflect on all the things - and be ready to share your observations to help others! Daily Mindfulness
Nine of Wands Crowley tells us, "the Nine represents always the fullest development of the Force in its relation with the Forces above it." This strength relies on its ability to change constantly. "Defense, to be effective, must be mobile." (BOT) .. . Tremendous and steady force that cannot be shaken. Victory, preceded by apprehension and fear. This is when we might have to dig deep and stay strong - trust in yourself and know you have what it takes to get things done. Be willing to adapt, improvise and overcome whatever heads your way and stay balanced and centered. Never doubt yourself. Daily Mindfulness
I've noticed this one shows up when I am getting impatient with something I am working on. In the immortal words of Inigo Montoya, "I hate wait." ;) Eight of Disks While low on the Tree of Life, (this card sits in Hod) it is still a much better card than the seven! Hod is in Mercury and Mercury sits exalted in Virgo - mutable Earth sign, therefore it stabilizes us. Earth is the element of Assiah, which is home to the suit of Disks - we are all happy here! .. . Crowley says, "this card signifies intelligence lovingly applied to material matters, especially those of the agriculturist, arificer and engineer." .. . This card, Prudence, is about waiting and having patience. We plant and wait. Wait and see what comes of the work we have done. Time and consideration is good here. We have learned not to rush headfirst into something now. Like an apprentice trying to learn his craft, we take things slowly and one step at a time. Daily Mindfulness
Like I noticed before, the Courts are really showing up a lot since the stay at home orders started. It's like they are embodying things I need to address while in isolation from the world. Or, they are just really cool people to have visit :) Queen of Cups Water of Water "Her image is of extreme purity and beauty, with infinite subtlety; to see the Truth of her is hardly possible, for she reflects the nature of the observer in great perfection." (BOT) .. . This is a reflection of a reflection here - this Queen is a mirror to whoever looks upon her. She is easy going and makes friends easily - because they see in her, themselves. Crowley says, "she is the perfect agent and patient, able to receive and transmit everything without herself being affected thereby." .. . This is a passive energy, very watery with no ground or fire - so be careful not to pick up others energies or influences and take them as your own Daily Mindfulness
I think this is a very important card/idea. The need for a safe place to go when things in life go pear shaped is so vital to our well being. Queen of Disks Water of Earth - lifegiving water for a dry Earth! In the Book of Thoth, Crowley says she is quietly passive but in its highest aspect. He also says, " She thus represents the ambition of matter to take part in the Great Work of Creation." .. . She is the Mother of this Element - stable emotionally and well grounded (water of earth) This is a strong and protective element as well as powerfully creative. She will create a loving and safe environment for when you need shelter from any storm. Daily Mindfulness
Six of Cups This card really does look like Pleasure. Crowley says, "Pleasure - in the title card- must be understood in its highest sense; it implies well-being, harmony of natural forces without effort or strain, ease, satisfaction." Commencement of steady increase, gain, pleasure. But Commencement Only. As you can see, water is now flowing again from the lotus blossoms but they have only started to fill up! .. . We have gotten through some heavy emotional turmoil and now we are finding our balance again - with an open heart, keeping our expectations based in reality and staying in the moment. There is an endless river of love and energy for us if we open ourselves up to swim in it. Daily Mindfulness
Seems like the Majors are walking around me lately - or in the case of Death, Dancing around me! And this is a joyful Death - Don't fear this reaper! Death The Universe is Change; every Change is the effect of an Act of Love; all Acts of Love contain Pure Joy. Die Daily! Death is the apex of one curve of the snake Life: behold all opposites as necessary complements, and rejoice! (BOT) .. . Death and the next card, Art - go hand in hand from an alchemical point of view. It almost seems as if Art should go first as it gives us hints of the final stages of the Great Work and Death is the final stage! The Orphic Egg is now in its last stages of development, getting ready to hatch! .. . Death is about putrefaction - and while that sounds absolutely disgusting, it is not. It is a vital part of the Great Work - putrefaction is the chemical changes which develop the final form of life from the Orphic Egg. .. . This Death is nothing to fear - this one is happily stirring up the sea bed, churning up new life. "So also the formula of continued life is death, or putrefaction." Crowley. If we want to continue to grow and thrive, to finish our own Great Work, we need Death. Daily Mindfulness
I've noticed that this card shows up a LOT when I am having dreams of being powerless or feeling trapped. I love it when my cards are that in tune with me. The Emperor Third alchemical trump, Sulfur, The Emperor represents Aries - Mars rules and Sol is exulted. Crowley says that the sign is thus a combination of energy in its most material form with the idea of authority. .. . He is the masculine life force, dynamic, authoritative and full of strong leadership. He is less emotional than his Empress - this energy is perfect for standing strong when feeling vulnerable. Stand strong in your power and trust yourself. Daily Mindfulness
If you have been running a bit low, feeling the itch of being in isolation, or just down, this is a great card/energy for renewing yourself and reconnecting to the Universe with. The Star This Star is Nuit, not arched across the sky, but in Goddess form. Crowley also says she is the personification of Babylon/Scarlet Woman. The great globe behind her represents the entire heavens surrounding the Earth - so everything we see on the card transcends the concept of infinite space. .. . Crowley writes: From the golden cup she pours this ethereal water, which is also milk and oil and blood, upon her own head, indicating the eternal renewal of the categories, the inexhaustible possibilities of existence. The left hand, holds a silver cup from which also she pours the immortal liquid of life. .. . A card of hope and promise and rest and renewal, Nuit gives: Unimaginable joys on earth: certainty, not faith, while in life, upon death, peace unutterable, rest, ecstasy; nor do I demand aught in sacrifice."
