Letters From Thoth & The New Era Elements
Four of Swords This is a reminder to take a break and rest. To collect yourself inward and breathe. In looking closely at the card, you see the staticky background on which the 4 swords float. This card often shows up after a chaotic and stressful time to tell us we need to take a moment to regroup and prepare for the next thing to come, because more is coming and we need to be rested and ready for it. Ace of Fire Here we get the spark of creation - the first seeds of creativity and success. We find our willpower and our sense of self here as well. New impulses and ideas are forming and this is a powerful and fiery energy for us to use! So today, take some downtime and regroup your mind and thoughts. Using that fire energy, let it help to clarify your ideas and plans and shine the light on what comes next.

Letters From Thoth & The New Era Elements
Five of Cups This card looks rather queasy doesn't it? The colors, combined with the lotus flowers being blown away and the water no longer flowing creates a stagnating, mucky pool. Without the clear and flowing emotions, we get stuck and end up disappointed that things are just not working out the way we wanted them too. Therein lies the rub - too often, our expectations get to be a tad high and when things don't work out, we feel let down. Ace of Air Here is the foundation of our consciousness. This is where comprehension, clarity, decision making and ideas/concepts arise. This is the first spark of consciousness, the moment when that idea strikes and we can see everything we need to in a clear and logical way. So today is a good time to look at our lives and hopes and dreams in a clear and realistic way. Stay balanced and true to yourself - and adjust any expectations that could lead to disappointment. This way the energy you create stays fluid and moving forward and you don't let anything negative build up! Letters From Thoth & The New Era Elements
I love how these 2 decks flow into each other today. Three of Cups Crowley calls this the card of Demeter and Persephone and the Fulfillment of the Will of Love in abounding joy. The spiritual basis of fertility. It is so full of goodness and life and color - a very sensuous pleasure but! The pomegranates have a small warning as well. Going back to Persephone, she did swallow some of those seeds and is now stuck spending time in the Underworld each year. Crowley notes, "the lesson seems to be that the good things of life, although enjoyed, should be distrusted." I am not sure I'd be that dark with the symbolism - I would say to just stay balanced and aware of what is going on around you - and not fall into the, "too much of a good thing." Four of Water These little seal pups are waiting for their mom to come back from hunting - so for now, they are secure in their nest, stable and calm. There is a chance of boredom here though, I mean, they are stuck waiting - so we need to balance that lull so we don't get too bored or restless. These downtimes of "nothing," can be a great pause for us, to regroup and be thankful for all we have in our lives and celebrate that loving energy. So today we are full up of good emotions and loving energy. We are in a good spot, feeling safe and cared for and blessed to have such loving support. In this safe space we should pause and show our thanks and appreciation so that we don't become complacent or take these things for granted. Letters From Thoth & The New Era Elements
I think these cards are perfect for working with this rather crazy full moon energy. It is making me edgy and off balance, so finding my balance while working within is vital. I hope this helps anyone who needs it! Ten of Cups This card symbolizes a time of happiness and peacefulness. When our intuition is heightened and we just feel connected to everything. A time when everything just flows like it should. A lasting happiness inspired from above us, a gift from the Universe. BUT - I do like what Crowley says here, "the background ought to look menacing and there is something very sinister about this card. It suggests a morbid hunger which springs from surfeit. The craving of a drug addict." As if the card could be filled with the realization of the suit and is instead, filled with just the idea of fullness. Adjustment Also known as Justice, the name change reflects the updated way of thinking about this card. It's about a constant assessment of where we are and keeping things in balance and harmony with the Universe. I like what the LWB says, "things have a tendency to even themselves out and every action has an opposite reaction." When those things all align, you find a sense of equilibrium and balance. So today I think calls for balance. Paying attention and staying mindful of what is going on around us and inside us. Feeling our way to connecting with the Universe and letting ourselves be open to the energy and love it brings us and then keeping that energy flowing onward instead of letting it spill over or stagnate. I have just started using these decks together but so far, they do reflect each other very well. Today it seems we are visiting the emotional realm. Princess of Cups Swirling and light, this beautiful card is imaginative and full of dreamy goodness. There is a fluid and ecstatic grace here and it invites us in to swim. But this isn't all just dreams - Earth of Water, this Princess grounds those dreams into a nourished reality where ideas can flourish. 7 of Water This is about getting lost in daydreams and wishful thinking instead of balancing these things with reality. There is nothing wrong with fantasising but if it isn't grounded in reality it can bring false hopes and sadness. Like the mirage of water on the card, if we don't have a firm grip on reality, we can be lured into something that isn't really there. So today is for dreaming into reality. What do you wish for? What would you do if you could? When you dream big and ground those wishes into reality, you can make some fabulous magic. It is all about staying balanced and channeling your emotions into a physical manifestation. Letters From Thoth & The New Era Elements
It looks like we have gone from fiery wands to earthy disks and material concerns today. Knight of Disks I love this card, mostly because the Knight's horse looks so happy to be surrounded by all that wheat, while his rider ponders the distance or is maybe thinking about what he wants for dinner. This card is all about, well... food LOL Crowley says this Knight is, "entirely confined to the production of food." You are well equipped to face whatever is in front of you. Now is the time to work and tend to your duties with prudence and serenity to create a pleasant life. Hard work = rewards. Also to note, a lot of time this card ends up being called boring, dull, plodding - but I tend to see it as The Knight is serene and knows what he needs to get done without having to be flashy about it. 5 of Earth Well that is just... unpleasant. But it does illustrate this card brutally well - this is when we have had everything stripped from us - we have nothing to stand on, no personal power - we are stuck. Trapped with no purpose, helpless and paralyzed by fear. It may FEEL like you have no power BUT YOU DO. Anxiety can mess you up badly and get you stuck in a wheel of fear. This is when you need to realize you have help and you can do something. Focus on one thing at a time, make a list of the obstacles and you may find some of them are not really a problem and can be let go of. You can deal with anything you need to! So today is a time to keep your nose to the grindstone and focus on your material needs. It may seem like you have too much to do and not enough energy to do it but you DO - don't let anxiety freeze you up, stay focused on what is right in front of you and take things one step at a time. I have been pulling the fire cards a LOT lately - which matches my current mindset - I love it when the cards do that. Knight of Wands Fire of Fire this card is pure fireworks! The energy bursts out of the card so quickly that it blows the flames forward before the Knight. This explosive energy is yours to rein in, but aim it carefully so you don't miss your target. Son of Fire Air of Fire, this is a hunger for adventure energy. Challenges and excitement come with this card as well as an impulsive desire to do ALL THE THINGS. There is the chance of becoming impatient and aggressive if things don't go quickly enough, so stay balanced and focused with this energy. So today harness all this pure and creative energy to bust through any blocks you may have and get things done. If you've been holding back, now is the time to open yourself up to succeed. You have a boundless energy at your disposal so grab it, stop making excuses and GO! Letters From Thoth & The New Era Elements
Three of Disks This is the material heart of the engine that drives the Universe. As Crowley says, "it is the material establishment of the idea of the Universe, the determination of its basic form." There is alchemy at work here - the symbols for sulfur, salt and mercury sit on the hubs of the red wheels. We need our own magical alchemy to create as well - by concentrating all of our efforts into what we are trying to achieve, we create potent energy aimed at our goal. Ten of Water Calm water, that allows us to see our reflections clearly as well as what sits under the water. We have done the work and now we are enjoying the calm *afterglow* of the emotional experience. We can now let go and sit in the moment of completion. So today, hard work and concentration will pay off. Stay focused and don't let anything get in the way of your goals. Once you have achieved them, you can then sit in the calm waters and enjoy the completion of all your hard work. Letters From Thoth & The New Era Elements
This has been a weird energy week so far and I have been feeling rather vulnerable or small - not sure how to explain it but this draw was so perfect when I asked how to work with these feelings... I thought maybe others might be struggling with this as well so I hope this helps! The Emperor Representing Aries and where Mars rules and Sol is exalted. As Crowley points out, "...is thus a combination of energy in its most material form with the idea of authority." The Empresses other half, this energy is confident, caring and secure. Thoughtful and careful to consider all angles before making any decisions, this is the energy you want to reach out for when you are feeling vulnerable or powerless. The Hierophant This is my all time favorite ever representation of this card. HH The Dalai Lama is so perfect for this card. An admired figure of compassion and who says there is no single path of faith, but many ways to walk. This is a card of teaching, learning, instruction and belief as well as learning to listen inward to your own conscience. So today is about learning and teaching, knowing you can be a guide for others because everyone is a teacher for someone else. It is also about finding your inner strength and knowing you are not powerless - that you always have a hidden inner reserve that can pick you up and carry you forward. You can trust on that inner strength and you can trust yourself to use it well. Letters From Thoth & The New Era Elements
Princess of Wands Time to play with a little fire here - learning to see what we can do and discovering our possibilities. This Princess fuels the fires and is full to bursting with creative energy. The key is to keep her grounded - she is Earth of Fire - and if not carefully balanced, she will burn up the city. This is a time to let go of your fears and let yourself soar. 8 of Air (swords) Too many ideas and thoughts swirling around keep us moving but in circles. We keep getting distracted, like this hawk being chased by crows - it can't get to its prey because it has to keep avoiding the attackers. This distractions come at us from all sides and we need to learn how to focus, find what we can work with and stay mindful of where we are directing our energies. So today is about focusing our creative energy and letting go of our fears. When we let our worries run rampant we end up on a hamster wheel of frustration. Trust yourself, focus your thoughts and let go of your fears. There is a lot of fiery energy to guide you forward to your goals! |
